About the event
The gathering takes place on World Mental Health Day, October 10, at Lazy Suzy in The Podium, Ortigas,
with Marj Ostani, author of The Thing About Eating Alone.

This year’s World Mental Health Day carries the theme “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change,” highlighting the importance of listening to and amplifying lived experiences in conversations around mental health. I Came Home and Was Starving brings that into an intimate, participatory setting, creating space for guests to write, read, eat, and talk through some of the emotional questions at the heart of Ostani’s collection.
WHAT ARE THE THINGS WE NOURISH AND DEPRIVE OURSELVES OF?
Led by Camp Coco, the afternoon will explore themes of emotional hunger, loneliness, anger, shame, and the desire for safety, connection, and belonging.
